This would require many more option keyboard letters, but it would be easier to use once kinetically memorized. I could then use them only if I needed them. I would prefer a shift option keyboard that has extra letters with the markings already contained in a single key stroke. Then you have to go back and insert them later. PS Katle Kanye Forward article said: "He curses the creator of the confusing Hebrew language keyboard as a self-hating Jew." What I have noticed is that it is extremely difficult to type fast unless you leave out all the diacritical markings. black extra large capitals sans serif informal medium square serif thin low x-height vintage modern rounded swash 3d cursive geometric grunge text caps only retro angular rounded corners shadowed unicase calligraphy comic connected eroded rough more. You cant do that with normal fonts, since the font is purely. The advantage of this is that you can copy and paste these 'fonts' onto other websites. After it is installed, I would be able to use it in the Mellel II word processing program on my MAC. This technically isnt the same as changing the 'font' of some text, since changing the real font of some text doesnt actually change the characters themselves. I am not a programmer and do not know how to install a program unless it comes with its own installment package. My question is what are others doing who type Yiddish using cursive script? What are you using and how is it working? If it is a Unicode script, I should be able to install it on my MAC text and language settings as one of my choices provided there is an installment package that comes with the script. From this observation, I have concluded that people reading his blog must be so familiar with the Yiddish words that they do not need the additional markings. I noticed that he is using Hebrew-Yiddish cursive script that does not contain the extra markings found in the Ain Yiddishe Fonts script. I recently found the Katle Kanye blog on the internet from the Forward May 20th newspaper describing him as a possible Modern Sholom Aleichem. In order for me to use it, I would have to download or buy a Font Editor program and convert all the scripts to a Unicode value. When translating Yiddish to English or writing Hebrew-Yiddish script on the computer, there are additional diacritical markings above some of the cursive letters that I have not found in other scripts. IMac Intel duo-core 2.8 gh, running Leopard 1.Regarding discussion of using tools to achieve results, I would like to use the Ain Yiddishe Fonts script inside the Mellel II Hebrew word processing program for the MAC. Most Mellel users would probably not find a need for this, but for me it comes in very useful in typesetting documents. But Mellel goes its own way, and by chance the Terminal "incantation" works for Mellel even though Mellel is not a Carbon progrm. And later, and in Mellel and some other programs in OS 10. The Terminal command is provided for making FontSight work with Carbon Programs. After long silent we are presenting you 11 more fonts and our target is 40+ Unicode based. Theoretically, the Terminal command should not be necessary in installing FontSight for Mellel, which is a native OS X program. Mellel is strong, stable and reliable, and is the ideal companion for working on documents that are long and complex, short and simple, or anything in between. The new font menu shows all the fonts installed on the computer, in their own character appearance, and allows a view of all of each font's family. Mellel is a word processor designed from the ground up to be the ultimate writing tool for academics, technical writers, scholars and students. I have discovered that Stone Studio's program FontSight, when installed and a special Terminal command is made (the Read Me for the FontSight program gives the text of the command) provides Mellel with an extra Font Menu between the Character Menu and the Window Menu. The best Windows alternative is Notion. Its not free, so if youre looking for a free alternative, you could try LibreOffice - Writer or AppFlowy. Occasionally it would be nice to be able to assign a shortcut (via iKey) to one or more fonts, without needing to make a new fontstyle for each one via the Character Menu. Mellel is not available for Windows but there are plenty of alternatives that runs on Windows with similar functionality. From time to time I have wished that Mellel had a Font Menu, as well as the font palettes.
