Just look at how many longterm Bioware devs left during the creation of Anthem because of EA.īecause despite their reputation for being the serial killer of game studios, I can fish some up if you really want me to. Because despite their reputation for being the serial killer of game studios, most devs have a relatively good opinion of them as a publisher.Īgain that is absalutely not true, there are tons of examples of devs talking poorly about EA. Hence why devs are usually reluctant to speak too poorly of EA most of the time. Here is a good little video explaining how EA are now destroying the bioware franchises. Anthem for example is just a continuation of when they tried to monetize Mass effect. And now that microtransactions are a thing they just try to ram as many games full of them as possible, no matter the franchise. All EA do is buyout smaller companies with a franchise following, milk it, let the franchise die and repeat. Just because EA didn't buy them out doesn't mean the games wouldn't have been made. Regardless of whether it was "ruined" or not later on, chances are they wouldn't have existed to begin with.Ībsolutely not true. Putting money behind a game as a publisher to make profit =/= made the game. Yeh and Three Kingdoms was made by Sega right and not CA. Still made by EA because they probably wouldn't have been made, or at least not as they were, if it wasn't for EA as a publisher handling the cost. But at the time game's media and other companies ate that excuse up. Obviously this seems pretty laughable in the wake of success' like Horizon and God of War on consoles. To make it seem more acceptable for them to devote their resources to multiplayer live service style games, and not have to invest in the less piñatable singleplayer elements. Thus they tried to spread around the myth that singleplayer games were dead. Their shareholders basically just look at the golden cow that is FIFA and it's ridiculous ultimate team thing and ask "why isn't all of our games like that?" The problem is that EA doesn't care about making a profit, they care about making a profit, and then all the money they can get on top of that. Dead Space, Mass Effect, and Dragon Age are but a few examples of Electronic Arts' rather impressive lineup of singleplayer experiences. Think we missed one?
